Flower Girl

Last Saturday I had a girls day out with my pal Sydney. 

We ate lunch, shopped, ate chocolate, drank coffee and it was wonderful! 

Here we are at Moonstruck Chocolates enjoying truffles and coffee.

We were on a mission though: find the perfect flower bracelet. See, Sydney is getting married in a couple weeks. Yay! Anyway, we looked and looked, and found some ok flowers, and then we found "the perfect" flower. Unfortunatley, it was attached to a necklace with a couple other flowers and it cost $36. After looking at it I thought "I could make that and it won't cost $36." So we went to Joann's and for $16 bought a box of petals, some stamens, felt, ribbon, and feathers....add a little glitter, hot glue, something borrowed and something blue (the crystal bracelet is mine) and Voila! C'est magnifique!

Can't wait to see it with the whole ensemble! Thanks for letting me make something for your special day Syd - I'm so glad that you're here and you're my friend hahahahahaha!

Birthday shirt

After seeing these...

my friend Collen asked me to make her son Ethan a shirt for his birthday. 

She wanted a tie and "Birthday Boy" on the front.

I had some extra fabric so I made a little bag and a bow tie. Not so sure about the bow tie, but the bag turned out cute.

I found a cute pocket picture online, but it was too small to print, so I made my own using Photoshop.

She also wanted a 2 on the back.

Thanks to Wonder Under this shirt was pretty easy. It would have been a snap if I hadn't cut out the 2 backwards and if I didn't have such a hard time getting the letters to look good. I had first tried printing the words on iron on transfer paper, but that looked like crap, so I found these awesome gold iron on letters. UNFORTUNATELY, the pack only came with one Y.  UGH! There should be at least two of each letter except for maybe W and Q and Z. I might write a letter. Anyway, I managed to make a Y out of two different letters. Hope it doesn't look weird.

Now I've got to get started on Quinn's party outfit...

Quinn's art work from her classes is hanging on the wall. Isn't she talented? hahahahahaha

"Vintage" baby dresses as wall art and new closet doors. The top dress was Marshall's moms, the blue coat was my moms, and the dress on the closet was mine.

We added the bird knobs to the dresser. There are a couple chalk boars on the floor  that I'm still trying to figure out what to do with.

Well,that's it! We are not quite finished, but we just need to add a couple of finishing touches like new floor and and door molding, but that probably won't ever happen for a while.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I am a sewing MACHINE! Baby. Baby. Baby.

 There must be something in the water that's causing everyone to have babies. One of my friends had a sweet little girl in April. I made this dress and headband for her. It's another pattern from my favorite (and only) sewing book "One Yard Wonders." I added the ruffle on the bottom.

 Another friend had surprise twin boys 3 weeks ago! Crazy!!! There weren't any baby boy clothes in "One Yard Wonders" so I cut out the ties and sewed them on some onesies. Then I found some name tags online, put some text on them and printed them on iron-on transfer paper.

 

Hopefully they like them and hopefully they still fit by the time I get them sent.
