I am a SEWING MACHINE: born a star

My friend Colleen and I had due dates one day apart (hers was the 25th and mine the 26th). She texted me on Wednesday and we discussed how neither of us had had babies yet. Well lo and behold! the next morning I received another text from her and she's had her baby...in the car! Pretty exciting stuff :)  She is one tough mama - her story made the news and her little one is now famous hahaha

Anyway, I made her special delivery a cute little dress I found on Pinterest from the blog Sew Much Ado. I modified it a little by putting elastic in the waist. I also made a little clip to go with it.

This was so easy! And it turned out so cute I think I'll try to make one in Quinn's size.

I also appliqued a onesie and made a ruffle skirt, like the one I made for Quinn.

Yay for baby girl clothes!

I am a SEWING MACHINE: for my babies

On Friday I got the urge to sew, so I made the new baby some shoes and my little Quinncess a skirt.

I tried making Quinn a dress out of an old t-shirt of Marshall's, but that turned out to be a huge fail and waste of time...oh well :)

In other news...here are some things we've been up to:

At the end of April my sweet friends Mari and Kelly threw me a baby shower! My sister Kellie made delicious Boston Cream Pie cupcakes and the best Angel Food Cake! All my good buddies came - including my cousin Heidi all the way from CA. I am one lucky girl :)

Kellie's birthday was on May 4th, so we went out to breakfast at Broder. It was so good and we came up with a fantastic idea for a food cart!
The next weekend we celebrated Marshall's 29th birthday. He wanted a hammock and to go eat at a food cart. We also went for a short "hike" at Mt. Tabor. Then Sydney and I went for a coffee at Stumptown, had pizza at her house and then met our friend Amanda and Kellie for pie.

On Mother's Day we went out to breakfast and then Quinn and I met Sydney at the Rhododendron Garden.
Wednesday Kellie didn't have to work and Quinn was at school so we went to NW 23rd and shared a fancy peanut butter and jelly from the PB&J Food Cart. Then over the weekend we went out for a really good breakfast at the Pink Rose. We had a Monte Cristo - it was deep fried - and biscuits and gravy. Then we went to a fountain and let Quinn play. After that we took the aerial tram from the waterfront to the hospital.

This month has been a lot of fun, despite my being uncomfortable and tired all the time. I guess I better live it up now - pretty soon a new baby will be here and I won't be able to do anything for a while.

Prego/Family Pics

Yesterday evening we took a short drive to a state park. I thought it would be a good opportunity to get some nice pregnant pictures of me since it's never happening again. Marshall thought I was nuts for wanting all these pictures...whatever. Most of these I just set the camera up on the tripod and set the timer.

The one with just my hands - they are supposed to form a heart. I saw it on Pinterest...Marshall really thought I lost it here. Maybe it's the hormones? He should really just do whatever I tell him at this point and be quiet about it. I'm becoming a loose cannon of emotions ahahaha

Home Improvement: Wall

There is this wall in our house that separates the kitchen from the living room. I hate it. It's like this huge, stupid...well...wall that makes you wish you had x-ray vision just so you could see through it. So anyway, over Christmas, while Papa Denny was here, he and Marshall cut a big rectangle in it.

It took us a while to decide on what we were going to do with the space...fast forward to March. Quinn and I left town for a couple of days, which gave Marshall time to finish the project and he did a beautiful job! Kellie even helped a little :)

Yay for completed home improvement projects!

So close!

Baby 2's due date is coming up fast! On Wednesday I had yet another sonogram to measure the baby's growth. He's growing just as he should be - not too big, not too small, just right :) The ultrasound technicians love printing out pictures of his boy parts - I have 3 of them now and I'm pretty sure he's peeing in the latest one...if you are interested I'll email you the pic hahahaha

Here's a picture of me now at 37 weeks. And there's the picture of me from 10 weeks ago. Clearly I need to get some better fitting shirts...

I am a SEWING MACHINE: baby boy gift set

My friend Rosalee just had a baby boy! So, I made a few things for the new little guy. I haven't sent them yet, but I swear I'm going to try to do it tomorrow...

I sewed a little giraffe to a onesie.
I got the image for the giraffe from CraftSew.com.

Baby shoes. I had attempted to make shoes once before, but failed.
These turned out great though! I also made bigger shoes for Q. They turned out ok - I'll post those later.
Anyway, I got the pattern from here.

Double sided bib. I used some iron on plastic stuff to make this bib wipeable.
The other side is just regular fabric. I hope it washes well... I got the pattern out of my One-Yard Wonders book.

Here's the complete set minus some jean shorts I bought at Target :)

I am a SEWING MACHINE: Easter Dress

It's been a while since I've made anything for little Quinnie, so I made her an Easter dress. I got my inspiration from this top I found on Craftiness is Not Optional. I used my own pattern for the dress. I attempted to do the sleeves, but that was a total fail. Oh well...

It's a little big, so I guess she'll be able to wear it for a while.

Anyway, here are a couple more pictures from our Easter weekend.

Dying eggs with Dad

Rock Star Eggs

Quinn's treat for the Easter Bunny. She left this out Friday and on Saturday morning
EB left her a teaser gift of Minnie Mouse bubbles.

Saturday we went to the farmers market, rode the street car and then explored NW 23rd.
Quinn was drawn to this store because of the pink walls and Hello Kitty guitar on the wall.

What kind of day would it be without pink ice cream?
Christina and Alex enjoying a coffee from a cute place we came across where the
barista's wear bow ties and vests.

At Washington Park enjoying the beautiful day.

Saturday night Kellie watched Quinn and Alex and Christina treated us to a delicious dinner out at the Screen Door. We had to wait an hour and a half to be seated, but it was worth it :)

Grits and Shrimp

Fried Chicken

Beef Brisket

Kellie's treat for watching Quinn - Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie.

Sunday we had brunch with Alex, Christina, Sydney and Marcos. Kellie had to go to school :( Then Quinn went on an Easter Egg hunt.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!
