First Cut

We gave Q her first hair cut last night. I felt kind of sad about it, but it really did need to be cut.

Welcome Wagon

We've been welcomed to the neighborhood! Two of our new neighbors came over yesterday to introduce themselves and drop off goodies, how nice is that?

The neighbors behind us dropped off a nice card and a bamboo plant

And the neighbors across the street baked us some delicious chocolate chip coconut cookies, needless to say they were gone by the end of the night...

Put a Bird On It

There is this show called Portlandia. It's pretty funny. Here's a clip where the two main characters go into this store and put a bird on everything because, well, don't birds just make everything look better?

What does this have to do with anything? Not much, other than I put a bird on something.

I was in the crafting mood and decided to take two ordinary cardboard boxes and turn them into beautiful organizers.

Before

After

First, I cut the flaps off the boxes. I just took some scrapbook paper, lined it up how I wanted it and then made creases where it would fold over the edges, then I cut it and hot glued it to the box. I used some cute cut-outs and some fancy sparkly paper to jazz them up a bit. Doesn't that box look soooo much better with a bird on it?

More Snow!

Today we woke up to snow, beautiful snow...

I love the snow, but why couldn't it wait until a day where I didn't have anything to do?! Oh well, Q and I had fun playing in it before it melted.

Getting there...

So things are starting to come together! Mainly just the new Ikea stuff we bought, but it's a start.

Here's Marshall and his little helper assembling the furniture.
.

After a while we got bored...
Yes, we are both wearing the same shirt :)

Now for the finished pieces

Kitchen Island

Our new bed frame and mattress - we haven't even slept in it yet :( According to Marshall that little bedside table was harder to put together than the island.

Nice work Marsh, nice work!

House

Here is a not so great picture of the house...

Love/Hate

Our Sunday was off to an excellent start with a trip to the Waffle Window for breakfast. This place has the most delicious waffles in the world! They are so dense and sweet and they come with the most awesome toppings and they are only like $4 each. If you are ever in Portland or anywhere near Portland you must go here. Here is what we had:

Farm Fusion

Bananamisu

Blueberry Tuffte(?)

After we ate our entire fat and calorie allowances for the day we decided to brave the craziness that is Ikea and things pretty much went downhill from there...

I knew it was going to be a madhouse, but we needed things and I wanted Marshall's help. Quinn and I alone at Ikea are useless. She wants to sit on everything in the store (except for the shopping cart seat of course)...
Q testing out a bed and finding her belly button
and I want to take my time and look at all the cool things I could to do to the house but I get so overwhelmed I can't make up my mind and then Q starts to cry and I get all frazzled and then we just have to leave. But with Marshall at the helm we were actually able to accomplish quite a bit. Yes we were there almost all day and Q and I ended up waiting in the car for an hour and a half while Marshall went to find all the stuff in the warehouse and waited in line 4 different times, but we managed to get just about everything we needed. Yay! I'll post pictures as soon as we get everything assembled and put into its proper place. Wish us luck!
