I'm having blog block, so here are some pictures of things we've been doing to get ready for Christmas...
Every year on the day after Thanksgiving we get our Christmas tree. If we are with my parents we go out into the freezing cold forest, look forever for a tree, end up with a Charlie Brown one and then go home wondering why we didn't just go to a lot and get it over with. On the years we're not with our parents we go to a lot or a u-cut farm and buy a perfect tree. Well this year we thought it would be fun to drive forever and cut one, just like we do back home. We are in Oregon, there must be an abundance of perfect Christmas trees in the forests here!
| Here's Q in the forest looking for a tree. Wrong. We had terrible luck and there was poison oak everywhere. So we left and found a u-cut farm. |
| A sea of perfect trees and a porta-potty. Oooops! We have no cash to buy a tree. So much for our tradition. |
So on Sunday we drove 15 minutes and cut down a tree in some ones backyard.
The tree is decorated and looks beautiful! I don't have a picture of it though. Maybe later.
Next we decorated a gingerbread house. I bought it at IKEA for $4. I thought it came with candy decorations, but it was only the gingerbread. Rip off. Anyway, I went to Trader Joe's and bought some candy.
Last weekend we went to Alpenrose's Christmas in Dairyville to see Santa. We waited forever to see Santa and when we finally got Q on his lap she started crying. They snapped some pictures, but we didn't buy them. She got a candy cane though and all was well in her world. We did get to see some model trains, which she really liked and we went through this really cool Storybook Land that had tons of flocked trees and live animals.
Well, I guess my blog block lifted. I think we will have a few more Christmas adventures. Marshall's putting up the Christmas lights tomorrow, so that should be interesting. And I've been crafting :) Here are some of my favorite pictures from Q's Christmas card photo shoot.
Trying to play catch up. LOVE your little red riding hood outfit—absolutely fantastic!! I can completely identify with small holiday meal failures. They're not really failures, just short of the perfection expected, right? If only we could all be Martha Stewart. Someday. Someday.
